Palace of the Parliament – Bucharest

The Palace of the Parliament is a monumental building on Bucharest’s Spirii Hill. Construction began in 1984 under Nicolae Ceaușescu, and the complex is also known as the People’s House. Its massive façade and scale make it a recognisable symbol of the capital. Programme E7 includes an exterior view during the panoramic city tour.

More about this place

Anca Petrescu led a large architectural team in creating the complex. Construction formed part of Bucharest's extensive redevelopment, which removed the old Uranus neighbourhood and permanently reshaped the capital's urban landscape.
