Chavdar lies in the Zlatitsa–Pirdop Basin between the Balkan Mountains and Sredna Gora. Its central square provides a starting point for a walk. A Neolithic settlement investigated near the Topolnitsa River connects the village’s present-day setting with the long prehistory of this sub-Balkan region.
