Egyptian Obelisk — Istanbul

The Egyptian Obelisk, also called the Obelisk of Theodosius, is an ancient red-granite monument made for Pharaoh Thutmose III. Emperor Theodosius I re-erected it in Constantinople’s Hippodrome. Its hieroglyphs and the reliefs on its pedestal preserve traces of different stages of its history.
