Sokolski Monastery stands above Gabrovo in Bulgarka Nature Park. Founded in 1833, it takes its name from Yosif Sokolski. An eight-spouted stone fountain associated with master builder Kolyu Ficheto marks the courtyard. The church and buildings recall the region’s National Revival history in a woodland setting.

More about this place

The monastery church's icons were painted by several National Revival artists, including Hristo Tsokev. Its Annunciation chapel preserves the memory of another monastic complex that once stood in central Gabrovo.
