Day-by-day itinerary

Day 1: Sofia – Apriltsi – Sofia

07:00 – departure from Sofia, Serdika Bus Station, by tourist coach towards Apriltsi.

Arrival in Apriltsi. Set at the foot of the Balkan Mountains, the town brings together four historic settlements: Novo Selo, Zla Reka, Vidima and Ostrets. Autumn scenery and historic churches provide a peaceful setting for a day out.

Novo Selo and the memory of 1876. Visit the Holy Trinity Monastery, closely associated with the April Uprising and the tragic events of 1876. The monastery commemorates the monks and nuns who lost their lives there.

Church of St Petka Paraskeva. Nearby, see this Bulgarian National Revival church from the early 19th century, notable for its partially sunken design. Continue with a stroll through Novo Selo, among historic churches and traditional architecture.

Optional walk up to the hill with the Cross for panoramic views of Apriltsi and the surrounding mountain peaks. The climb depends on weather and participants’ abilities; those who prefer can enjoy an independent stroll instead.

Free time in Apriltsi for lunch with local specialities at your own expense, coffee, photographs and a walk around the town centre.

In the afternoon, return to Sofia. Expected arrival at Serdika Bus Station around 19:00, depending on traffic.

For a trip on your preferred date, the departure time and meeting point are agreed in advance.

Important information

Scheduled departure: 14 November 2026. Fare: €30 per person (BGN 58.67). This fare applies to the shared group on the advertised date.

Payment: the full fare is payable when booking the scheduled departure. The shared group requires at least 35 travellers. If the minimum is not reached, travellers are notified 2 days before departure.

Date of your choice: select “Request your own date” and enter your preferred date and party size. For a private trip, transport, price and included services are agreed individually. Sending an inquiry does not confirm a booking. The minimum of 35 travellers applies only to the advertised shared group.

The agency may change the order of visits according to traffic, attraction opening hours and religious services. The return time is approximate. Travellers under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Wear comfortable clothing and shoes with good grip; suitable walking shoes are recommended for the climb to the Cross.

Guiding in English, German or Russian is not included in the base fare. Indicative supplement: €150 in total for your group for the day trip, for each selected language. This service is optional; availability and the final amount are confirmed in advance in the offer.
