Thessaloniki has long been known, among other things, as a shopping tourism destination, and for good reason. The city centre consists of major streets: Tsimiski, Mitropoleos, Ermou, Egnatia, Agiou Dimitriou and Leoforos Nikis, intersected by streets such as Agias Sofias, Aristotelous, Venizelou and Paleon Patron Germanou. The city’s commercial heart beats around these streets every day.

Thessaloniki’s shops present the latest fashions in clothing, shoes, jewellery, accessories and leather goods. Tsimiski in particular offers clothes and shoes by top designers from around the world. There are modern shops for every style and budget.

Kalamaria market is also well known for its wide variety and good prices on all kinds of products. There are also street markets in the city centre selling products at very low prices. Their quality, however, is not always good.

One of Thessaloniki’s best-known sights is the White Tower. Other famous sights include the Church of St Demetrius, the city walls, the Arch of Galerius and the Rotunda of St George. The city is well laid out, with large squares (Agia Sofia, Aristotelous) and broad boulevards (Alexander the Great).

Byzantine churches, Roman structures, modern architecture, a lively nightlife and impressive beaches — all this is Thessaloniki.

“Mediterranean Cosmos mall” http://www.mediterraneancosmos.gr/

is on the outskirts of Thessaloniki, on the Thessaloniki–Halkidiki motorway. The building has a varied layout, with open-roofed areas. The mall contains numerous shops, cafés, restaurants, fast-food outlets, a supermarket, cinema and bowling alley. Many eating places have sea views, where you can have a meal or simply a drink. Very close to the mall (about 50 m away) is a children’s amusement park.

Undoubtedly a wonderful place to shop or simply enjoy a frappé with an amazing view of the Aegean Sea!
