Bran Castle
Bran Castle stands on a rocky hill beside the historic route between Transylvania and Wallachia. Construction of the stone fortress was authorised in 1377; it later became a residence of Queen Marie. Towers, an inner courtyard and narrow stairways shape its medieval appearance. The popular name “Dracula’s Castle” is a literary and tourism association, rather than evidence that Vlad the Impaler lived here.
