Useful travel information
Prepare for your trip with confidence. Check your documents, programme details and important contact numbers before departure.
Edition: 12 October 2026.
Documents to take with you
Carry the documents applicable to your trip. Requirements depend on your nationality, destination, transit countries and means of transport.
- A valid passport or national identity card accepted throughout the route. Check the required remaining validity and any visa requirements.
- Issued travel service vouchers and booking confirmations.
- The current programme and your travel contract documents.
- Flight tickets and itinerary, including your boarding pass when issued, or the exact time and place of departure for your coach.
- Your medical or travel assistance insurance policy, where purchased or required for the particular trip.
- The general and special insurance conditions and the assistance company’s 24-hour telephone number.
- Additional documents required by the programme, such as visas, child travel permissions, certificates or other applicable documents.
Make electronic documents accessible offline. A digital copy does not replace a document that must be presented in the original.
Check names, dates and identity document details on vouchers, insurance policies and tickets. Names must match the document you will use to travel. If you find a discrepancy, contact Global Tour or the travel agent through whom you booked promptly.
Mobile phones and roaming
Before departure, ask your mobile operator whether roaming is enabled and check charges for calls, messages and mobile data in every country on the route.
For subscriptions covered by European roaming rules, use in the EU/EEA is normally charged at domestic rates, subject to fair use. Check your data allowance and plan exceptions. Turkey, Serbia and other countries outside the applicable zone may have different tariffs.
European roaming rules do not apply to satellite connections on ships or aircraft. Check your settings to avoid unexpected charges.
Save the guide or local representative’s number for your particular trip and the emergency contact provided before departure.

Bank cards and payments
Before travelling, check your bank’s conditions for card payments and cash withdrawals abroad, including fees, currency conversion, daily limits and any restrictions in the country you are visiting.
Check your card’s expiry date and save the bank’s official emergency card-blocking number. If your card is lost or stolen, contact the bank immediately and follow its procedure. Do not share your PIN or one-time authentication codes with others.
Travelling with children under 18
Every child needs their own valid travel document accepted by the countries on the route. For Bulgarian citizens under 14, a passport is the usual international travel document; children aged 14–17 may also use a national identity card where the destination accepts it. Requirements for other nationalities must be checked according to their citizenship.
When travelling with both parents, carry a birth certificate or an officially certified copy, especially if surnames differ, to establish the relationship if needed.
If a child travels with one parent, another accompanying adult or alone, check the requirements for consent from the absent parent or both parents, including notarisation and translation where required. Carry the original declaration and necessary copies when applicable; a court decision or other document may be needed in a particular case.
At Bulgaria’s external border, parental consent declarations remain required in the cases provided for. When travelling within Schengen, the absence of routine border checks does not remove the need for a valid document, applicable parental consent rules or court restrictions. The destination, transit country and carrier may impose additional requirements.
Confirm the exact documents in advance with the relevant authorities and carrier. Flights and departure points
Check your flight date, number, airport and terminal against your ticket and the airline’s current instructions. Confirm deadlines for check-in, baggage drop and arrival at the gate. Times are local to the relevant airport unless expressly stated otherwise.

Travel assistance insurance
Before departure, read your policy’s cover, exclusions and limits. Check that it applies to the entire travel period, countries on the route and planned activities. Save the assistance company’s 24-hour telephone number shown in your policy.
- In an emergency, seek medical care or call the local emergency number first; in the EU you can call 112. Do not delay necessary emergency care while waiting for insurer approval.
- Contact the assistance company as soon as possible. Provide your policy number, location and details of the event. If immediate contact is objectively impossible, notify it as soon as you can and within the policy’s time limit.
- Follow its instructions and obtain advance approval for costs where possible and required by your insurance. The assistance company can direct you to a medical facility and arrange direct payment for covered and approved services. You may need to pay yourself and then request reimbursement under the policy conditions.
- Keep medical records, original invoices and payment receipts, and the event reference number. These may be needed when making a claim.
Important for Euroins’ “Travel Assistance — Traveler” product: the published claims guidance states that, if you do not notify the assistance company or follow its instructions, the insurer may cover up to EUR 150 of costs incurred without prior approval. This is a condition for that specific product, rather than a general limit for all medical insurance. Your own policy conditions govern.
